Beware of Sales Pitch!

Free dinner AND save money on your power bill? If this invitation is coming from someone other than your cooperative, be careful. Click here for a warning from the Minnesota Department of Commerce that radiant barriers in attics are not effective means to reduce heating or cooling costs in Minnesota homes. A better approach is to seal air leaks and add conventional insulation.  Although we do not know if this particular dinner meeting will push these radiant barriers, the bottom line is, as a member-owned non-profit electric cooperative, it is our mission to improve our members’ lives.  We are always publishing EFFECTIVE ways for members to reduce their electric bills.  Call our office with questions or for more information on effective weather-proofing measures.

Co-ops Build Community

Co-ops are everywhere!

A cooperative is formed by a community to solve a common need.

Cooperatives are equally owned and controlled by the people who use their services (aka members).  They provide nearly every good and service imaginable, and they are a great choice for buying local and keeping jobs in the community.  They exist in nearly all industries and business sectors.

A cooperative’s sole purpose is to maximize benefits to its members (THAT’S YOU!), rather than maximize benefits to its shareholders.
