MPCA “Dotmocracy” Survey Results

Thanks to all who completed the MPCA (Minnesota Pollution Control Agency) “Dotmocracy” survey, which we recently included with your electric bill and in your Enlightener issue. This survey tells the MPCA what is important to our members as they consider the options in developing their plan to comply with the EPA’s Clean Power Plan. We offered a $100 bill credit drawing to those members who returned this survey to us, and we will pass those surveys on to the MPCA. Clayton Moen of the Sandy Shores area was our $100 bill credit winner! View the graphic below to see what fellow North Star members felt were the most important factors for the MPCA to consider as they develop their plan for Minnesota. If you didn’t complete the survey, but would still like to participate, you can find the online version at this link:

Cartoon Drawing Contest

Win a $50 gift card prize for your cartoon drawing!

To enter, draw a cartoon of a deer stand that has tipped into the power line and arcs of electricity are electrifying the deer stand. The winning cartoon will be the one that best tells the story of why it is important to stay away from power lines. This actually happened, and the story could have had a tragic ending. If someone had been in that deer stand, they could have been electrocuted. Although right-of-way may seem like a great place for a deer stand, hazards must be removed.

Deliver your cartoon drawing by 4 pm on July 11, along with your name and contact information. If mailing your drawing, use this address:
