On Friday, September 15, 2017, we had a member call us and report that someone with a southern accent had called them and told them their electricity would be shut off within a half hour due to an overdue balance on their account. We believe this caller was trying to commit fraud by soliciting a payment from the member. Thankfully the member was wise to the situation and did not provide any payment to the caller, and they got off the phone with them! Remember, North Star Electric Coop will NEVER call you and ask you to give your banking or credit card information to us over the phone! Please report any of these situations to your local law enforcement, and please let us know as well! Thank you!
